The Lot is a french department located in the southwest of France, the administrative capital is Cahors and has more than 20.000 inhabitants. The Lot river crosses the department, that is why it took that name.
The department attracts many tourists thanks to its castles and palaces. You absolutely have to visiting some places such as the Castelnau-Prudhomat castle built on a hill in 1100,the Cénevrières castle dating from the French Renaissance, the Montal castle built in the same period and the Chambert castle in the countryside.
In Cahors, you will find the Valentré bridge, the Arc of Diane and the vestiges of the Roman amphitheater. There are also several interesting historic churches to visit.
You can also visit the hilltop villages of Quercy which are impressive, the charm of dry stone and the Causses pastures land where goats and sheep are grazing peacefully...
