The Gard is located between the Massif Central, the Mediterranean, the Rhone Valley and the Languedoc.
The Gard has a geographical advantage which make it very famous for its touristic heritage. You will discover small villages full of charm and rich heritage cities as Nimes, Uzes, Aigues-Mortes and Beaucaire... But also the famous Pont du Gard considered as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
The historical heritage of the department is very rich : vestiges of Roman architecture, the Pont du Gard, the highest Roman aqueduct, the Nimes arenas (exceptional buildings of quality and well preserved).
In the Gard, there are several cultures, Provence, Languedoc, the Cevennes, the Camargue and the Mediterranean one. There is a Mediterranean climate, so people can practice many different sports.
