Do you know how to contact emergency services in case you need them during your motorhome trip in any European country? Today, the CaraMaps team gives you some advices for your next trip and especially the only number to remember, do not forget it !
Since 1991, the « 112 » is the European wide emergency number, working in each of the 27 European countries.
112 is the number you must use to contact emergency services: the fire brigade, the police or the ambulance, in any European country. This number works alongside of national emergency numbers of each European country.
A specially trained operator will answer the 122 call. In the majority of the countries, the operator can answer the call not only in his national language but also in English and French.
If the caller doesn’t know his exact location, the operator is able to identify it and transmit it to those in charge of providing the support.
European Commission, says that currently only 48% of EU citizens are aware that the Europe’s emergency number is the 112. That is why the commission is setting up some awareness campaigns in order to inform people and reach the maximum of audience.
However, every person and every child must know how to react in case of difficulty, accident or fire.
The EU european rules guarantee that people can have a good access to 112, from any location and by using any type of phone.
So don’t forget next time you go anywhere in Europe in your motorhome, 112 is the only number you must keep in mind 🙂
